Loneliness in men
Why so many men lose touch with friends, and small ways to reconnect.
You're not the only one
Lots of men find their circle shrinks with work, moving, relationships or kids. It creeps up slowly, and it's rarely talked about.
Side by side works
Many men connect best doing something together rather than sitting face to face: training, five-a-side, walking, a shared project. Look for a regular thing, not a one-off.
Make the first move
Text one old mate this week. Keep it simple: "Been a while, fancy a pint or a walk?" Most people are glad to hear from you and were waiting for someone else to message first.
Start small online too
The Forge community forum is a place to talk with other men going through the same thing. It's not a replacement for people around you, but it can be a start.
If it feels heavy
If loneliness is making you feel low or hopeless, tell your GP, or call your local crisis line any time.
