When worry takes over

Recognising anxious feelings and simple ways to ease them.

Normal vs. too much

Everyone worries. It's worth getting support when worry feels constant, hard to control, or stops you doing things you need or want to do.

In the moment

Slow your breathing, making the out-breath longer than the in-breath. Name five things you can see. Anxiety peaks and passes, even if it doesn't feel like it will.

Longer term

Regular exercise, less caffeine and alcohol, and steady sleep all lower your baseline. Talking therapies are effective; a GP or doctor can point you to them.
